What is the working language of UNHCR?

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has two official working languages: English and French. These languages are used for all official UNHCR documents, meetings, and communications. However, in the field, local languages may be used to communicate with refugees and other stakeholders as necessary. UNHCR also employs staff members who speak a wide range of languages, reflecting the diversity of the populations it serves.
