What are the staff grades in IOM?

he staff grades in the International Organization for Migration (IOM) are divided into Professional and General Service categories.

The Professional category includes staff members who hold a university degree and who are employed in specialized fields such as program management, policy development, and technical expertise. The Professional category has the following staff grades, listed in ascending order:
  1. P1 (entry-level professional position)
  2. P2 (experienced professional position)
  3. P3 (senior professional position)
  4. P4 (chief of mission/head of office)
  5. P5 (director)
The General Service category includes staff members who support the operations of the organization and who are employed in areas such as administration, finance, human resources, and logistics. The General Service category has the following staff grades, listed in ascending order:
  1. G1 (entry-level general service position)
  2. G2 (experienced general service position)
  3. G3 (senior general service position)
  4. G4 (supervisor/team leader)
  5. G5 (manager)
In addition to the Professional and General Service categories, IOM also employs staff members in the National Officer category, which is reserved for nationals of the country in which the position is located. The National Officer category has staff grades that are equivalent to the General Service category
