Description

PURPOSE

The Staff Health Officer for the Manila Shared Services Center (MSSC) promotes the physical and mental health of ICRC staff in line with the ICRC Staff Health Strategy. Serving as the focal point for all staff health matters in MSSC, the Staff Health Officer collaborates with MSSC Management, the Regional Staff Health Coordinator, and medical experts at HQ to plan and implement staff health policies, health insurance, health-related initiatives, and manage medical information.

RELATIONSHIPS

  • Internally, consults and aligns with the Lead Staff Health Officer for related and relevant activities in scope;
  • At regional level, interacts with the Staff Health Manager
  • Externally, maintains working relations with clinics/hospitals regarding staff health

ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Promote health, disease prevention, wellness and safety in the workplace. (medical briefing, first aid trainings)
  • Review and process medical claims for anonymization and approval of medical expenses
  • Oversee the pre-employment medical examination process by monitoring results, ensuring necessary follow-ups, and confirming fitness-to-work
  • Validate certified sick leave applications and manage medical files of resident staff, ensuring strict adherence to medical confidentiality
  • Counsel and guide staff on health-related concerns

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS

  • Registered Nurse
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar function (occupational health nursing, medical benefits/claims management) with good references
  • Knowledgeable in basic psychosocial support, or approaches to occupational stress and wellbeing
  • Excellent communication skills, including therapeutic communication and regular workplace correspondence in English, both spoken and written
  • Organized, reliable, and able to report on-site daily
  • Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel
