SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL (SI) is an international humanitarian aid association that, for over 40 years, has been providing assistance to populations affected by armed conflicts and natural disasters by meeting their vital needs: drinking, eating, and shelter. Particularly committed to combating diseases linked to unsafe water, the world’s leading cause of death, SI implements through its interventions expertise in the field of access to drinking water, sanitation and the promotion of hygiene, but also in the essential field of food security and livelihoods. Present in 26 countries, SI’s teams – 3,200 people in total, made up of expatriates, national employees, permanent staff at headquarters, a few volunteers, etc. – intervene with professionalism and commitment while respecting cultures.
Job Description
As part of its FSS (Food Security and Livelihoods) interventions, Solidarités International implements two intervention components in support of populations affected by conflicts or disasters: emergency food assistance and support for economic activities in the medium and long term. These activities can be of different types:
- Food distributions and cash transfers
- Distribution of productive inputs (seeds, agricultural tools, livestock, fishing kits, etc.)
- Support for agricultural and animal sectors
- Support for Income Generating Activities (IGA) (small businesses, food processing, etc.)
- Formations techniques
- Infrastructure rehabilitation/construction (markets, road rehabilitation, agricultural field drainage, irrigation systems, storage warehouse, etc.)
- Awareness campaigns on good food and nutritional practices
- Access to microcredit (WITH, tontines, etc.)
Main objectives of the internship:
- Contribute to the main mission of the SAME pole which is to strengthen the quality of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL’s SAME projects, from the diagnosis and design phase to the implementation and monitoring-evaluation phase.
- Contribute to the various ongoing projects: Agroecology, beneficiary targeting methodology, work on the Nutrition approach, etc. by supporting the writing and/or proofreading/translation of technical documents and supporting the organization of meetings and their note-taking.
- Contribute to providing technical support to geographic offices (desks) and missions on research into technical and/or thematic information (bibliographic research, documentary synthesis, revision of program documents, etc.)
Main tasks:
The intern will work within the DOAP SAME division under the hierarchical responsibility of the SAME Division Manager. They will contribute to the capitalization and improvement of IS expertise in their activities. They will be required to work in collaboration with other DOAP divisions (in particular with the Learning and Evaluation Officer, the Water, Hygiene and Sanitation division or the Environment & Climate Officer) as well as potentially other departments (Communication & Development, Logistics, etc.).
Other tasks of the intern are:
- Attend DOAP and SAME pole meetings and contribute to note-taking
- Write the quarterly newsletter for the SAME hub
- Support the organization of internal or external events (webinars, conferences, etc.)
- Monitors technical and/or humanitarian events related to SAME and may be likely to participate in some of these events online or in person

IF YOU WILL OFFER THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS
- Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Mairie de Clichy metro station
- Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
- Compensation: 4.90 euros/hour
- The gratuity is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence during the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
- Public transport covered 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
- Meal vouchers at €8.90/day of actual training, with 60% participation from SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
- Teleworking authorized (up to 12 days/month)
SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL is committed to offering the intern a variety of tasks as well as internal training in preparation for departure, allowing him to usefully strengthen his training/experience with a view to a future humanitarian commitment. This internship is an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of how a humanitarian NGO works, its constraints and the different approaches.
Education and experience:
- Higher technical training from bac + 2 level (BTS type) to 4/5 (Professional License, Master 1 or 2, Engineer) in the field of food safety, agriculture and/or livestock breeding or local/rural development, studies in economic, social and/or geographical sciences including a specialty in food safety.
- Field experience appreciated: employment, internship, volunteering.
- Experience in writing capitalization documents, methodological guides, technical sheets appreciated.
Required skills:
- Strong writing and synthesis skills in French and English
- Knowledge of the humanitarian project cycle
- Sensitive to the quality approach in the implementation of humanitarian programs
- Technical knowledge specific to agriculture and livestock farming in rural areas (particularly in southern countries)
- Sensitivity to sustainable practices (agroecology, organic farming, climate-smart agriculture, permaculture, etc.)
- Sensitivity to sociological/anthropological sciences for taking into account socio-cultural specificities in the development and implementation of projects

- Real interest and motivation for community and humanitarian work
- Critical thinking and power of proposal
- Rigor
- Adaptability and autonomy
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Teams, Pack Office, InDesign, others)
