Access to drinking water, sanitation and hygiene
Food security and livelihoods

The DOAP aims to provide technical support to teams in the field or at headquarters, assist in defining mission strategies, provide a critical perspective on the quality of the projects implemented, contribute to the technical development of the association, and improve the skills of technical teams through the development of tools and training materials.

Integrated into the Operations Directorate, the Deputy Operations Directorate for Programs (DOAP) is made up of:

Job Description

Position : Assistant to the Director of Operations and Deputy Operations Director for Programs

Tasks related to THE DEPUTY OPERATIONS DIRECTORATE FOR PROGRAMS (DOAP)

  • Provide support to DOAP in the search for technical and/or thematic information (bibliographic research, documentary synthesis, etc.). For example, on the themes of “Environment and Climate”, “Cash Transfer Programs”, “Protection”, “Agroecology”, “Rapid Response Mechanism”, “Research and Innovation”, etc.
  • Support the capitalization process: proofreading, correction, translation and distribution of capitalization documents (activity sheets, internal notes, manuals, etc.)
  • Attend workshops to reflect on the DOAP vision by 2030
  • Participate in the organization of events (Programs week): coordinate logistics (venue reservation, teambuilding activity, etc.), write the report
  • Attend weekly DOAP meetings and take minutes
  • Support the design and sending of the DOAP newsletter to field teams
  • Monitor the DOAP budget
  • Support the organization of internal training (preparation for program departure)

Tasks related to THE OPERATIONS DIRECTOR

  • Attend brainstorming sessions on intervention sectors, strategy, and location
  • Attend the following meetings and provide reports at the request of the DO: thematic and coordination meetings of the operations department; thematic meetings on major projects at headquarters and the mission management (NGO strategy); other meetings at the request of the DO
  • Participate in the organization of events supported by the operations department (webinars and Country Directors week)
  • Update data/indicators on the internal IS dashboard
  • Participate in the writing and help with the translation of documents produced by SI
  • Ensure humanitarian monitoring
  • Can provide technical support for the submission of project proposals

The tasks to be performed are transversal, therefore requiring autonomy, rigor and versatility. Knowledge, or at least a desire to understand the humanitarian environment and its constraints is essential. The tasks described in this announcement are likely to evolve according to the projects in progress at headquarters and according to needs.

SI is committed to offering the intern a variety of tasks as well as internal training in preparation for departure, allowing him to usefully strengthen his training/experience with a view to a future humanitarian commitment. This internship is an opportunity to gain an in-depth understanding of how a humanitarian NGO works, its constraints and the different approaches.

Education and experience:

Higher education in the field of humanitarian project management, political science or international relations. Technical training in the field of water and sanitation or agronomy is an asset.

Required skills:

  • Strong writing skills in French and English.
  • Advanced writing and synthesis skills in French
  • Fluent French and English required, Spanish is an asset
  • Knowledge of the humanitarian project cycle

Interest in the sectors of water, hygiene and sanitation and/or agriculture/rural development and/or monitoring/evaluation, quality of humanitarian action.

Sensitive to the quality approach in the implementation of programs

Required qualities:

  • Real interest and motivation for community and humanitarian work
  • Critical thinking and ability to propose, rigor
  • Adaptability, autonomy and responsiveness (several files to follow at the same time)
  • Diplomacy and interpersonal skills, stress management and availability
  • Good computer skills (Office Pack)

Internship based at the SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL headquarters in Clichy (92), Mairie de Clichy metro station
Intern with mandatory internship agreement.
Compensation: 4.90 euros/hour
Compensation is calculated in proportion to the actual hours of presence over the month. (On average 1 month = 154 hours, or 22 days of 7 hours/day)
Public transport covered 50% by SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL
Meal vouchers at 8.90 € / actual day of internship, with SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL contributing 60%
