About: Action Against Hunger

Founded in 1979, Action Against Hunger is an international non-governmental organization fighting world hunger. Its charter of humanitarian principles—independence, neutrality, non-discrimination, free and direct access to victims, professionalism, and transparency—has been its foundation for 45 years. Its mission is to save lives by eliminating hunger through the prevention, detection, and treatment of malnutrition, particularly during and after emergencies related to conflict and natural disasters. Mission :

Under the supervision of the Regional Director of Operations – West and Southern Africa, you will be responsible for setting up a reliable and relevant delegation system (with appropriate control mechanisms) for the ACF mission in Burkina Faso.
In this context, your role will be to:
Ensure the updating and implementation of the country strategy, adapted to the country, the regional context, and respectful of ACF’s vision and mission
Oversee the definition of ACF programs and projects on the mission with the aim of ensuring effective and efficient design, implementation, and evaluation
Develop and improve relationships between the mission and representatives of donors, civil society, the private sector, government agencies and other organizations, recognizing diversity as an asset of the humanitarian community, so that ACF can maximize its impact on malnutrition and its prevention
Lead the preparation, regular updating and implementation of the security plan in accordance with ACF standards and procedures
Oversee the management and development of human resources in the mission and create a shared vision, by all staff, of ACF’s values ​​and program objectives, as well as the role of each person in achieving them. Manage approximately 7-8 people directly and a total team of 150 to 300 people
Supervise and direct the appropriate mobilization, use and management of the mission’s financial and logistical resources, in accordance with ACF policies and donor requirements
Be the main actor in the relationship between the field and headquarters, maintaining good working relations with headquarters by responding to requests for information, and seeking headquarters’ expertise to optimize the implementation of the country strategy

Profile :

You hold a Master’s degree (Bac+5) in development project management, social action or humanitarian action, international relations, or political science.
You have at least 6 years of experience in a Country Director position in a complex security context, ideally with Action Against Hunger.
You have already successfully supervised multicultural technical teams and managed humanitarian and/or development operations in a similar context.
You are capable of leadership, adaptation, and innovation, with a sense of diplomacy and the ability to interact with national authorities and donors.
You are fluent in French and English, both spoken and written.

Conditions of employment

Fixed-term contract under French law: 24 months
Gross monthly salary: from 3572 to 4128 euros depending on experience, including 13th month
Retirement insurance reimbursement for non-French citizens: 16% of gross monthly salary
Increase in basic salary: 6% every 12 months of continuous contract
Per diem and monthly living expenses: 536 euros net, paid in the field
Monthly context allowance: 300 euros
Child allowance: 1500 euros per year and per child present in the country of origin (ceiling of 6000 euros/year)
Transport and accommodation: Coverage of travel and individual accommodation
Medical coverage: 100% of the coverage of health contributions and repatriation insurance, your medical expenses (as well as that of your dependents if family position) until 1 month after the end of your contract
Salary maintenance arrangements (illness, maternity, paternity)
Holidays and RnR: 25 days per year of CP and 20 RnR per year; cover for the ticket with a ceiling to go to the chosen break zone, and 215 euros of fixed compensation per RnR
