Youth for a Sustainable World (YSW), formerly known as the German Foundation for World Population (DSW Kenya), is a Kenyan registered national Public Benefits Organisation with a rich history of empowering communities through adolescent and youth-focused programmes since the year 2000.

Relaunched in 2024, YSW empowers young people- especially girls and young women- to lead healthy lives. We are committed to creating a supportive environment, advancing gender equality, and fostering access to SRHR services.

Ysw seeks to recruit Coordinator, Resource Mobilization.

Place of Work: Nairobi with occasional travel to project sites as required.

Reporting to: Head of Programmes.

Youth for a Sustainable World (YSW) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering youth through innovative social development programs in SRHR, gender equality, economic empowerment and organizational development. Building on over 24 years of experience, YSW seeks to expand its funding base to sustain and scale impactful interventions. The Coordinator, Resource Mobilization will play a crucial role in achieving these objectives by leading efforts to secure diverse funding streams and building long-term partnerships with donors and stakeholders.

Specific Responsibilities:

The Coordinator, Resource Mobilization will undertake a variety of tasks aimed at ensuring the financial sustainability and growth of YSW. The key responsibilities include:

  • Resource Mobilization Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive resource mobilization strategy to secure funding for YSW’s programs and operations.
    • Identify and analyze potential donor opportunities, including international and local grants, corporate sponsorships, individual donors, and fundraising events.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective donors, ensuring alignment with YSW’s mission and strategic goals.
  • Proposal Development and Grant Management:
    • Lead the development of high-quality funding proposals, concept notes, and reports.
    • Ensure compliance with donor requirements and reporting obligations.
    • Monitor and evaluate fundraising activities, preparing progress reports for management and donors.
  • Donor Engagement and Relationship Management:
    • Establish and maintain effective communication channels with key donors and stakeholders.
    • Organize and participate in donor meetings, fundraising events, and donor stewardship activities.
  • Fundraising and Campaigns:
    • Design and execute fundraising campaigns targeting diverse audiences.
    • Utilize digital platforms, social media, and traditional methods to increase YSW’s visibility and fundraising capacity.
  • Capacity Building and Training:
    • Provide training and guidance to staff on resource mobilization elements and effective engagement in fundraising efforts

Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, the candidate must have a relevant academic background and hands-on experience in resource mobilization. The required qualifications are:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Business Administration, Marketing, Social Sciences, or a related field. A Master’s degree is an added advantage.
  • At least 5 years of experience in resource mobilization, fundraising, or a related field, preferably in the non-profit sector.
  • Proven track record of successfully securing grants, sponsorships, and donations from various sources.
  • Strong understanding of the Kenyan and international donor landscape.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
