Can I get a job with UNESCO with no experience?
UNESCO does offer a Young Professionals Programme (YPP) that is specifically designed for recent graduates with limited or no work experience. The YPP is a competitive recruitment process that seeks to attract highly qualified and motivated young professionals who are committed to UNESCO’s values and objectives.
To be eligible for the YPP, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Be no more than 32 years old at the time of application
- Have an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in a field related to UNESCO’s areas of expertise
- Have no more than two years of relevant work experience after obtaining their advanced university degree
- Be proficient in at least one of UNESCO’s official languages (English or French) and have a working knowledge of the other language
The YPP is offered in a variety of fields related to UNESCO’s mandate, including education, natural sciences, social and human sciences, culture, and communication and information. Successful candidates will be offered a fixed-term contract of up to two years, with the possibility of extension.
