Job context:
On September 8, 2023, an earthquake struck Morocco, killing nearly 3,000 people and injuring 6,000. The Moroccan Red Crescent (MRC) and the CR/CR Movement immediately went to the field, in close coordination with local authorities, to assess the situation and provide assistance to those affected.
The French Red Cross (CRF) wasted no time in mobilizing in response to the crisis. On September 9, 2023, a call for donations was launched to contribute, as part of the CRCR Movement’s response, to relief efforts on the ground and to provide essential goods.
The CRF then organized an exploratory mission in early October to meet with the Moroccan Red Crescent to support the emergency response to the earthquake. After identifying unmet needs and defining cooperation arrangements, the French Red Cross and the Moroccan Red Crescent decided to open a delegation on site.
