1.OBJECTIVE

The Data Analyst, in line with the established priorities, objectives and strategies, must analyze, organize and verify the reliability of the information handled by the Delegation team in the execution of the protection unit activities.

Carry out the collection, verification and analysis of information from internal and open sources for the documentation of protection issues. You will apply a rigorous and methodological approach to the use of open source information, together with first-hand information, to improve the activities of the protection unit and contribute to the analysis of both protection incidents and broader trends. You will use the PROT6 database and produce accurate statistics and reports that can be used for both internal ICRC use and external reporting.

2.GENERAL FUNCTIONS

  • Apply best practices, standards, guidelines and templates for data management and analysis, and work on continuous improvement.
  • Ensures compliance with established internal and external needs and regulations.
  • Maintains up-to-date data management documentation.
  • Helps improve, develop and implement data quality monitoring processes and tools (dashboards, etc.) and contributes, where appropriate, to the automation of data quality controls.
  • Monitors data quality controls and consolidates, cleanses, and implements corrective actions.
  • Contributes to the development of institutional reports and dashboards by supporting colleagues in reporting, reviews and optimization.
  • Ensures continuity and smooth transition of data entered into various system applications.
  • Contributes to the development of the data model and the use of reference data that support the analysis
  • Using the PROT6 database and other digital tools, it produces accurate statistics and reports that can be used both for internal ICRC use and for external reporting.
  • Works closely with protection and coordination staff to complement field documentation efforts, provide complementary analysis of priority developments and monitor trends to inform follow-up actions.

3.REQUIREMENTS

Essential requirements :

  • University/higher degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Systems Engineering or equivalent in quantitative fields (statistics, mathematics, economics, etc.).
  • Knowledge of BI, SQL, statistical packages, Tableau.
  • Knowledge and solid understanding of visualization, data analysis and statistical concepts.
  • Mastery of data warehousing concepts and principles is preferred, but not required.
  • Computer skills (good command of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet, Skype, Microsoft Teams).
  • Intermediate level of English.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of general professional experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in data modeling and/or SQL skills to query and manipulate complex and disjointed data from different systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience using data visualization tools, such as Tableau, PowerBI or others.
